The heater has a computer board and other components that require electricity to operate the heater.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you live in an area prone to power outages you can connect the heater to a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.noritz.com\/index.php\/knowledge-base\/battery-back-up-recommended\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">battery backup<\/a> system or a power generator that provide at lease 120v by 5 amps, and produces a pure sine wave.
