Adjusting NRCR Auto Learn Sensitivity

Customize Your NRCR Settings

The NRCR auto learning program will flag any hot water use that is 3 seconds or longer meaning just about any hot water use will be remembered. However this can be adjusted if you find that too sensitive. Let’s say you only want the NRCR to remember longer hot water uses, such as washing the dishes, taking a shower or filling a bathtub. You can set the NRCR to wait 10 seconds or 60 seconds before it remembers a hot water use by following the steps in this video:

The default settings of the NRCR are geared more towards your comfort and convenience. Once the unit is installed and powered on for the first time, the recirculation pump will run for 24 hours providing you with quick hot water while also learning your hot water usage patterns. After the initial 24 hour period the NRCR will start following the times it remembered from the first 24 hours.

Any time you use a hot water faucet for 3 seconds or longer, it will remember that usage and run the pump during that same hour the next day. If you find this remembers more times than you desire and you feel the unit is running more often than you like, you can change that setting to custom fit your needs.

Available settings:

3 Seconds (Default): This setting will remember virtually all hot water uses and provide the most comfort and quick hot water throughout the day.

10 Seconds: If you frequently wash your hand quickly or have other hot water uses less than 10 seconds but don’t want the unit to remember that use, this would be a good setting.

60 Seconds: If you only want the unit to remember longer uses like washing the dishes, taking a shower or filling a bath tub this would be the ideal setting for you.
