This error code only applies to the Residential NRCR model.
An Error Code 06 indicates that the recirculation flow is too low for proper heater operation. There are two main reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect Installation or Setup:
The circulation system can be set up in two modes: dedicated and crossover. If using crossover mode, ensure that the unit settings are adjusted accordingly.
You can change the water heater settings with the buttons on the circuit board or a smartphone app called “EZ Start Plus” using the built-in Bluetooth. For detailed setup instructions, please refer to the installation manual.
Below are the recirculation settings you can configure using the buttons on the circuit board:
- Recirculation Mode:
- Always ON
- Always OFF
- Manual Timer
- Title 24 On-Demand
- Auto Learning Mode
- Recirculation Type:
- Dedicated Line
- 1x Crossover Valve
- 2x Crossover Valve
2. Low Flow Rate:
To address this, check the following:
- Verify that the recirculation loop doesn’t exceed the length specified in the installation manual（3/4 in: 500ft, 1/2 in: 200ft).
- Clean the filter in the hot water return line.
- Clean the filter in the crossover valve.
- Purge any air from the return water line, ensuring there’s no air in the recirculation pump.
By addressing these points, you should be able to resolve the low recirculation flow issue and ensure proper heater operation.
