Water dripping from the bottom of a heater typically indicates an internal leak or rain water entering through the exhaust vent. If you have this problem follow these steps:
- Shut off electrical power to the unit either by unplugging from the outlet or shutting off the switch or circuit breaker the unit is wired to.
- Shut off cold water supply (also turn off hot water if you have isolator valves1)
- Drain water from unit using either isolator valves or black plastic drain plugs2 on bottom of heater.
- Use our Contractor Finder to locate a local service representative.
Following these steps will minimize the chance of electrical damage within the heater.
drain plugs2
small, black, plastic fittings located on the bottom of Noritz Tankless Heaters which when unscrewed allow water to drain out of the heat exchanger.
isolator valves1
a valve assembly used for descaling a tankless heater; they typically consist of a shutoff valve for the hot and cold water connections, flush port connections for the hot and cold water connections, and an integrated pressure relief
